1. Always follow raid leader’s instructions. Failure to do so can result in loss off rolling opportunity and possible banning/kicking from the raid. It may be permanent or it may not, depending upon the situation. If you make a mistake, own up to it and the penalties will be far less severe. (Typically we will let it go or make a couple of smart ass remarks but it’s all in good fun)
2. You must use Vent. That is where instructions will be given. You do not have to talk but you will need to listen to instructions and react to spur of the moment changes in combat. If you need help setting up vent, please contact Ravynne or Jam. We are more than willing to help anyone who needs assistance. This does not mean to wait 5 minutes before the raid is due to start to hop on vent. It is up to you to make sure that vent is up and ready and working properly before the start of the raid. Please get it set up and working at least a day in advance. Also, please keep in mind that all Vent rules are still to be followed and will be enforced.
3. Be Prepared! When attending a raid, kin-sanctioned or not, you are expected to be prepared. This means that each person needs to have at least one stack of food (prefer superior lembas), a full stack of 20 of each pure draught (this includes morale, power, wound, poison, fear, and disease), at least three +5 hope tokens, and a back-up weapon and shield. Please check with your class leader to make sure you will not need any special skills/traits equipped. We do understand that this can be quite costly, but not nearly as costly as completely wiping numerous times and having to leave empty handed.
4. We expect everyone to be show up on time and stay for the duration of the raid. We do understand that real life comes first. While unexpected things do come up, please do not make a habit of a arriving late and leaving early. This is unfair to the others in the kin who want to stay until the end but run out of time because we do not start or time, or have to stop in the middle to find a replacement.
5. Sign Up on the website! Everyone who wants to join an event *MUST* sign up on the forums. If you sign up and find out that you cannot attend an event, then please remove yourself from the list or notify the Raid Leader so that he or she can find a replacement for you in as far in advance as possible. If you do NOT show up for an event you have RSVP'd for, you will lose the right to RSVP for events. The first infraction will cost you RSVP loss for 1 week, the second for 1 month, and a 3rd will result in the nullification of ALL RSVP rights. It is not fair to your fellow kinmate OR the raid leader, if you say that you will be there and then do not show up. Exceptions will be made for people who contact the Raid Leader as soon as they realize that they will not be able to attend, so long as it is before the event.
6. Everyone must be in-game and ready to go 30 minutes prior to the start time. The Raid Leader will send out raid invites starting 30 minutes prior to start time and ending 5 minutes before start time. The scheduled start time should be the time we are zoning into the instance, not the time we start the invites. Anyone signed up, but not in game when the invites begin going out can and will be replaced.
7. Be Alert! You must pay attention to everything that is being instructed from the Raid Leader. If we move, you move. If you are told to jump down a cliff and die, then you do it. We cannot afford to have preventable mistakes made in these zones. It will only result in higher repair bills and frustrated members. We understand that mistakes can and do happen. We just ask that you please pay FULL attention while raiding. It is really much different than group instances and a lot more costly.
8. DO NOT BREAK MEZ! Typically, the mezzed mob is the most dangerous mob to have running around. If you break the mez, chances are that it WILL wipe the party. The Raid Leader will indicate when it is okay to attack the mezzed mob(s). Please note that this also means to watch your AOEs and to watch any skill that can place a DoT on the mezzed mob. Once a DoT is placed on it, it can not be remezzed until the DoT expires. Many times, once that happens it is too late because the party has wiped. Always make sure it is okay to AOE before doing so!
9. Read all of the tips in General Raid Tactics and Discussion. Our officers have worked hard compiling a lot of tips and other information to make it easier for people to successfully start raiding. This includes all of the basics such as terminology, basic raid options, and how to open the target assist window. If you have any tips to add, please feel free to do so.
10. Use the target assist window! The secret to completing a raid successfully is to focus fire. This means, no using the tab key to select your next mob and turning off the auto-select option.
11. Know where your Minstrels are. If they die, then they can not heal. Make sure that they are protected. This also makes the minstrels’ job easier because if you are in range to protect them, then you are also in range for them to heal. The Minstrels will be target marked typically with a sun and a moon.
12. Unless you are pulling a mob off of a minstrel, you should be on the MAIN ASSIST’S target at ALL times. That is why they are called the main assist! They are the main person you should be assisting! See Rule 10 if this seems too difficult a task to follow. The Main assist is typically marked with a paw.
13. Under NO circumstances are you to resurrect an individual in combat unless instructed to do so by the Raid Leader. In-Combat Rezzes are very limited and must be used sparingly. Do not waste a rez that could have been used to revive a min that was killed, thus saving the entire party.
14. Do NOT pop a hope token unless instructed by the Raid Leader. There are 10 instances where a token must be popped in order for the raid to survive. All tokens have a 1 hour cool-down. This means that if for any reason we do not have at least 2 individuals who can pop hope tokens, we can not continue on. There are numerous reasons why a raid should be prematurely ended, but hope tokens is NOT an acceptable reason.
15. Keep the Vent channel clear for combat communication. All side conversations can be typed in raid chat. Once again, the main person talking should be the raid leader. If you can not hear the raid leader, then there are too many other people trying to talk.
16. Read the strategy guides posted in the Raiding Forums. This will make sure that you are not going in blindly AND it will cut down on instruction time from the Raid Leader, which will make it possible to get thru the dungeon quicker. The more bosses we down in the least amount of time means the more loot we will be able to dish out.
17. Check with your class leader for any special raiding traits that need to be equipped as well as gear requirements. Your Class Leader should also be able to advise you on your primary role in a raid situation. Also, ask if you are unsure which of your class skills are considered AOE, or will place a DoT on a mob. If you are unsure of any of this, please contact your class leader. If you do not know who your class leader is, or if you do not have one as yet, please contact Amabelin or any of her alts. She will be able to help answer any questions you may have.
18. We do use a DKP system. If you have any questions regarding our DKP system, please see the Raid Leader.
19. If you have an issue with an individual in the raid, please send a tell to the Raid Leader regarding the issue. He/She WILL handle it. Please do not start yelling at someone for making a mistake. That simply causes tempers to flare and can cause an even rougher atmosphere to play in.
20. Raid Leader has the right to make any decision he/she deems fit even if it goes against rules. This will very rarely happen, if ever. This also means that this rules posting may be revised. If that happens, a message will be posted for everyone to check the revision.
21. Any concerns or questions should be transmitted to the raid leader (Usually Ravynne) prior to the start of the raid when appropriate.
22. Have fun! Yes, raiding is hard work and more serious than regular fellowships, but if you are not having fun then something is not being done correctly.
